About the UQDS
Since the 1960s, the UQDS has been Queensland's most active university debating society. We aim to provide the necessary training for our members to become proficient debaters, recognising that lively debate plays an important part in any society.
Our weekly, year-round internal competition is great fun for everyone, from those who have never debated before to experienced debaters. All members have the opportunity to benefit from the range of intervarsity tournaments to which the UQDS regularly sends teams. There are tournaments for every level of speaker, from novice to experienced, held in Australia, the Asia-Pacific and around the world.
We at the UQDS are committed to raising our profile as a strong debating society. In recent years we have hosted our share of tournaments with true Queensland flair and participated in many more with great distinction. See our Debating page for more information on the tournaments we have hosted and in which we have participated.
This website acts as a gateway to our activities, both for members and those who are simply want to find out more about us. Click on the tabs at left to see what's new, what social events we have planned, who our executive members are and much more.
